Thursday, September 12, 2024

ABSTRACT

Traffic signal technology and systems are rapidly evolving, especially with connected vehicle paradigms. Finding new solutions that work with real-world hardware, standards, and practices requires translation from theoretical research to practical deployments. Topics in this presentation by Prof. Hainen will include automated traffic signal performance measures, traffic signal controllers, central traffic signal management systems, connected vehicles, probe data, and other emerging tools. The talk will present a selection of applications, projects, and deployments conducted over the past several years and discuss the future and evolution of traffic signal operations.
