Advanced Mobility Innovation Lab
Presenters: Dr. Jerry Everett (UTK), Dr. Airton Kohls (UTK), Student Researchers (UTK)
Abstract: This project will develop an Advanced Mobility Innovation Lab (AMIL) program to reach underserved K-12 students in rural and urban core areas of the southeast. These portable STEM labs will fuse transportation technology demonstrations with project- based STEM activities to expose students to advanced technologies and educate them with regard to the STEM principles used to develop and operate such systems. Phase 1 of the project will include identification of and inventorying transportation technologies well suited for demonstrations to youth, an inventory of transportation themed learning activities, the development of a plan for a fully operational AMIL program and the creation of a Beta version of a lab suitable for demonstrating the concept. Phase 2 will also include a task for identifying the additional funding from sources beyond the CR2C2 program that will be needed for ongoing program operation. Additionally, Phase 2 the hybrid aspect of the project to support CR2C2 collaborating universities will be further refined and tested.
