Electric Dial-a-Ride Problem for Equilibrant Rural Mobility
Presenters: Xiao Zou(UA) and Xinwu Qian (UA)
Abstract: This research investigates the Electric Dial-a-Ride Problem (EDARP) in rural areas, where electric vehicles (EVs) are integrated into service with unique challenges, such as limited energy resources. A mixed integer programming model is formulated, incorporating constraints like time windows, user maximum ride-times, EV recharging needs. Given the inefficiency of full charging in rural contexts, a partial charging policy is adopted. The nonlinear battery charging process is approximated using piecewise linear concave functions to accurately model real-world conditions. Additionally, queuing at charging stations is included to reflect limited charging infrastructure in rural areas. To solve this problem, we plan to use the exact branch and price algorithm to provide the global optimal solution. This research paves the way for EV routing and charging strategies in rural transport systems, aiming for efficiency and reduced ecological impact.
